Proofy.io terminology

Every address you verify will have a result that is either "Deliverable", "Undeliverable" or "Risky" Here's what each means:

Status Description
Deliverable You will get a deliverable status during verifying your list in such cases:
  • Email syntax is correct;
  • Email service answer us that ready to receive letter;
  • Email service does not answer that any email is invalid;
Inexact answer from server Status means that the email address is registered in greylisting. Greylisting is a method of defending e-mail users against spam. A mail transfer agent (MTA) using greylisting will "temporarily reject" any email from a sender it does not recognize. If the mail is legitimate the originating server will try again after a delay, and if sufficient time has elapsed the email will be accepted.
Risky: server hasn't responded You will get this status during verifying your list in such cases:
  • SMTP server was not responding during verifying. But it could be just a temporary error because of server overloading or crashing.
Risky Risky status means the recipient's mail server stated the recipient exists but other factors indicate this address may still result in a bounce, or is of low value.
Undeliverable Undeliverable status will be there if these five conditions exist:
  • Email service answer that we will not receive a letter to this email;
  • Server is down;
  • SMTP server is working incorrectl;
  • Email syntax is incorrect;
